What are the Great Auks?
The Great Auks
is a young people’s after-school club attached to Kilmartin House Museum.
It is run by a group of voluntary leaders including museum staff. The
Great Auks are affiliated to the Young Archaeologists Club, the Young
Ornithologists Club and Wildlife Watch.

What do the Great Auks do?
The Great Auks meet every month and take part in an event or activity
related to natural history or archaeology. Recent events have included:
- “Project Shore-Watch” - a trip to Eilean Mhór
- Halloween story telling with local story teller Scot AnSgeulaiche
- Processing archaeological finds from an excavation near Cairnbaan
- Garden Bird Count for RSPB
- Trip to the Isle of Eigg for a John Muir award
- A simulated dig during Highland Archaeology Fortnight
- Participating in a dig at High Morlaggan.
