Remember:Flint Knife Kilmory Achnamara 2005

  • you must not remove objects from the ground unless you have the landowner's permission
  •  it is illegal for anyone to disturb the ground around a scheduled ancient monument without prior consent of Scottish Ministers
  •  removing objects from the ground often damages valuable contextual evidence from which archaeologists can use to piece together a much richer story of the past

If in doubt, either contact the Museum: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , 01546 510 252 or the West of Scotland Archaeology Service (WOSAS) (Phone +44 (0)141 287 8330 E-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) to ask for advice.

Newly discovered archaeological artefacts are often claimed as Treasure Trove (see the TT web site for more information www.treasuretrovescotland.co.uk/) which may then award them to a local museum or the National Museums of Scotland.
