Education Service

Our schools programme offers active, creative and interdisciplinary learning for Early Years, Primary and Secondary schools.

Our cultural programme ranges from prehistory through to the Highland Clearances, and our natural history programme interprets the National Nature Reserves at Mòine Mhór and Taynish and Forestry Commission sites.

We provide interactive activities across a broad range of curriculum areas to enable a greater understanding of Argyll’s place within the wider world. Activities include artefact handling, costumes, crafts and traditional skills such as pottery. We also offer guided site visits of the Kilmartin Glen monuments, Rock Art Carvings of Achnabreac Forest Park and the deserted settlements of Arichonan and Kilmory Oib.

Outdoors we explore the natural history, including pond dipping, nature trails and transect, invertebrate and vegetation surveys.

We work with the class teacher beforehand to tailor the visit and activities to suit your class’s existing programme and to meet curriculum requirements.
