Friends of Kilmartin Museum

Be Our Friend

Kilmartin Glen is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world. Over 800 monuments and sites have been found here, testifying to the skill, ingenuity and beliefs of the thousands of generations who have called this place home.

For 20 years Kilmartin Museum has been collecting, conserving, educating and revealing the stories of this special place and the artefacts found here. We are at a very exciting point in the history of the Museum with work progressing on plans for expansion and redevelopment. The Friends of Kilmartin Museum has been relaunched with new and exciting ways for you to be involved in helping us to inspire and educate people about the internationally important archaeology and landscape of Kilmartin Glen.

We are an independent Scottish Charity and rely on the support of our Friends to continue our work.

“Becoming a Friend of Kilmartin Museum has brought archaeology alive and made it exciting for me in a way that previously I would not have thought possible. As a Friend I feel part of the organisation, I am kept informed of all that is going on and I can visit the museum whenever I like – it is a great scheme.”

Our Friends are important to us and so we show our appreciation in the following ways:

  • Free entry to the Museum for a whole year
  • Two newsletters per year sent directly to you
  • Two editions of the ‘Kist’ per year (Mid Argyll’s Antiquarian and Natural History Magazine, edited by Kilmartin Museum staff)
  • Personal invitations to an Annual Friends’ Event, exhibition previews and other events

  • 10% discount on the cost of workshops
  • Opportunities to participate in archaeological fieldwork
  • 10% discount on all Kilmartin Museum’s own merchandise
