Volunteer

We have a dedicated team of around 50 volunteers at Kilmartin Museum who are vital to the work we do and enable us to increase our visitors’ enjoyment, appreciation and understanding of the archaeological landscape, artefacts and natural heritage of Kilmartin Glen.

 

Volunteer roles across the museum are varied; walking guide to gardener, administration to market research, social media to education.

 

Volunteering with Kilmartin Museum is a fantastic way to develop your skills and knowledge, meet new people and to contribute your time and experience to a vibrant and worthwhile charitable organisation.

 

We currently have vacancies for the following roles:

 

Social Media Administrator

We are looking for a tech- savvy volunteer to assist in the promotion of the work of the museum through social media, including Twitter, Instagram and facebook.

Friends Secretary

We are looking for a secretary to support the Museum Friends’ organisation by maintaining good communication links with members, including managing the distribution of the newsletter, maintaining the database and helping to organise a yearly Friends’ evening.

Education Volunteer

We are looking for keen, practical and creative education volunteers to assist our Education and Outreach team deliver workshops and events. This role includes setting up and assisting the workshop leader in the delivery of workshops and events.

Grounds Maintenance

We are looking for a strong and capable grounds person to work as part of our volunteer gardening team led by our Museum Gardener. The candidate is required to strim and mow the museum garden on a regular basis to ensure that the grounds are well maintained for our visitors.

Market Researcher

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic person to collect data about our visitors, using an exit survey, in order to gain feedback on proposals for activities and interpretation in the redeveloped museum. This role also includes researching marketing opportunities to boost funding for the Redevelopment Project.
