Description
The two cists are situated in a marshy hollow. The largest measures about 1.2m by 0.6m and is 0.75m deep but the end-slab is missing. The slabs are grooved and the inner face of the E side-slab has two cupmarks. The capstone is large (2.8m by 1.24m and 0.17m thick). Only the capstone of the second cist is visible.
Excavation Details
The cists were excavated in 1929 by Craw. The second cist measured 1.02m by 0.6m and 0.5m deep and had a floor paved with flat stones.
Finds
- No burials nor grave-goods were found, only a fragment of jet was discovered in the first cist.
Note: Another cist, which contained a cremation burial and an urn, was discovered before 1865 but there is no longer any trace of it.
