Description |
|
This is
a natural island, used as a refuge in the 17th century. Local reports of
underwater timbers suggests it may be a crannog, possibly built and used
much earlier. |
|
Excavation Details |
|
No
thorough underwater survey has yet been conducted but remains of what
appears to be a timber causeway leading out from the W side of the
island have been found sticking out of the muddy loch bed. Loch Leathan
is a private lochan now surrounded by commercial forestry on one side
and moorland on the other, the road passes its W bank. |
