Description |
|
Excavations
in 1979 showed that a setting of at least 6 wooden posts once stood
here. After dismantling the posts an elliptical stone setting was partly
erected but not completed. A radiocarbon date of 3075bc ± 190 came
from charcoal in a stone socket. |

Excavation Details |
|
This is one of the
few key sites around Kilmartin which has been treated to a thorough,
modern excavation. Several features give an Irish flavour to this west
coast monument. It is thought that the northern circle was constructed
to align with the mid-day sun on the winter solstice. |
