Our Education and Outreach team work with a range of community groups, both at the museum and through outreach visits, to enable groups to access and discover more about Kilmartin Museum’s collection and the diverse natural history of the area.
We are currently working with Heads Up, a peer-led mental health group based in Lochgilphead and PACT, a group working with adults with learning disabilities, based in Tarbert. Our programme has enabled participants to create their own Bronze Age Beaker pot, explore bioarchaeology through investigating a Viking Age Burial and take part in a lichen survey at Mòine Mhór Natural Nature Reserve.
We deliver a broad range of practical workshops, including object handling sessions, drawing, printmaking, pottery, weaving and dyeing. We lead site visits to archaeological sites in Kilmartin Glen and to Scottish Natural Heritage Natural Nature Reserves at Mòine Mhór and Taynish, and Forestry Commission sites.
If you are interested in the Education and Outreach team developing workshops and projects with your group, we would love to hear from you! Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01546 510278.
