Archaeological Research

Kilmartin Museum’s mission is to inspire and educate people by interpreting, explaining and conserving the internationally important archaeological landscape, artefacts and natural heritage of Kilmartin Glen.

In order to fulfil this, we often raise project funding to undertake archaeological research, field surveys and excavations. We work across the whole of Argyll, often with other partners, to help us set this special place in the context of the surrounding landscape, society and culture.  Although we know a lot about the area, there are lots of unanswered questions.  Our work is continually building the body of knowledge available about this fascinating place.

All our projects are written up in the form of reports and publications, which you can access by here.

We often involve volunteers and occasionally have other training opportunities. To find out about the latest opportunities click here.
