The Young Archaeology and Wildlife Club is a monthly after school club open to all Lochgilphead High School students aged 11-16 years who are interested in exploring local wildlife and discovering more about Argyll’s amazing archaeology. The club is affiliated to the Young Archaeologists’ Club and The Wildlife Trust’s Wildlife Watch club.
We run the club at Lochgilphead High School during term time. During school holidays, club members take part in archaeological and wildlife site visits. The programme is led by members and has included visits to the abandoned settlement of Arichonan, exploring lichens in a “Miniature World” workshop, learning how to train Birds of Prey at the museum and taking part in a Citizen Science workshop with Heart of Argyll Wildlife Organisation.
