Planning the future for the assets of Kilmartin Museum

As you are probably aware plans are well underway for the £6.7m redevelopment of Kilmartin Museum. This will mean that the Museum will be closed while building work takes place but our work will go on.

We have been working on a decant plan for this period. This has the aspiration to maintain a visitor services and food outlet within Kilmartin Village. We have given consideration as to how other ongoing activities such as our education and archaeology services continue to function. Our plans obviously include the safe keeping of the many treasures that we have now such as the artefacts on display and in our collection store, plants in the garden and the Marion Campbell library furniture and books, all of which will form an important part of the new museum.
