Redevelopment Update for January

HLF Round 2

A Stakeholders’ Meeting was held at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on Wednesday 17th January, which was chaired by Michael Russell MSP and attended by many of the project’s potential major funders. There was discussion around securing unconfirmed funding, so this will be the focus of the Kilmartin Team over the next month.

In addition to the awards received at the beginning of December, we are excited to announce that Museums Galleries Scotland granted £40,000 to go towards progressing the Exhibition Design.  This is excellent news, and we hope to receive more responses in the next couple of months.

Some smaller trust applications were submitted in January, along with an application to the Garfield Weston Foundation.  The Clore Duffield Foundation invited us to make a full application, to go towards the Learning Space in the new Museum, and discussions have taken place with LEADER around submitting an application in February.

Our private individuals’ campaign has now raised £245,000 out of a £390,000 target.  Just short of £4,000 has been donated in January, and Friends and Founding Friends have been approached about supporting the Museum.  Discussions are underway with potential donors around contributions towards specific areas of the Museum, and meetings will be held over the next few weeks to progress these. In addition to this, letters have been sent out including information on our fundraising campaign as well as our fundraising brochure and donor plaque leaflet.

At the end of January a Gin Tasting was held at The Stag Hotel in Lochgilphead which Kintyre Gin kindly hosted and donated 3 different types of gin cocktail for the guests. Nibbles were also donated by several local businesses and were matched with the cocktails. The event was very successful and was fully booked, raising just under £1000.

The Pre Loved Fashion Show will be on the 24th of March in Lunga House ballroom, there will be a catwalk followed by the opportunity to purchase any of the items on the catwalk, plus many more.
