Redevelopment Update for June and July

Fundraising

This month we submitted an application through Argyll and Bute Council to the Rural Tourism and Infrastructure Fund for the car park, which would alleviate serious parking issues in the Village at the present.  A questionnaire was sent out to houses within the village and a community consultation was also held which was very well attended.  Thank you to all those who submitted a questionnaire or came along to the Community Consultation.  Your help, opinions and support are invaluable.

Unfortunately we received a rejection from the Clore Duffield Foundation, however several smaller applications to other trusts and foundations have also been submitted in the last few months, which should mitigate against the rejection.

We have had several generous donations from private individuals this month which has contributed towards our fundraising gap, however we still need to raise £88,615 from private individuals, so if you are able to help in any small way, your support is appreciated as always!

Design Team Activities

During June and July, the design team have been supporting Sharon and the Trustees in their discussions with funders in order to resolve the conditions that need to be met before they give approval to proceed with the next stage of design development.  This has involved a review of the construction costs and some consideration of where potential savings could be made should there be a shortfall in funding or if inflation increases at a higher rate than anticipated.

There has also been further work done on the design for the additional parking in the glebe to support the next stage of the application for financial support from the Scottish Government’s Rural Tourism Investment Fund.  A conceptual plan of the new parking area was shown at the consultation event and the comments received are now being taken on board as we develop a more detailed layout with a view to a planning application being lodged in the next few weeks.

Events

The Pre Loved Fashion Show is in the process of being reorganised for the 13th of September and will hopefully be held in the High School from 7pm till 10pm.  There will be a catwalk and a chance to try on and purchase a wide range of exciting clothing.  Entry is £5 and there will be a raffle of lovely goodies too. Keep your eyes peeled for posters in the next few weeks!
