An evening talk with Filippa Dobson, at Kilmartin Museum Cafe on Thursday 12th April 2018, 7.00-8.00pm.
Booking required, email email@example.com or telephone 01546 510278.
Artist and PhD student Filippa has been interrogating the landscape of Ilkley Moor, a comparable ritual landscape to Kilmartin, specifically looking at Neolithic cup marked stone. Her artwork comes from a place situated between art and archaeology and weaves together in one key performance, The First Cut, on the moor with creative critical writing.
Her research began at Kilmartin, travelled along a circuitous route to Ilkley and is returned to Kilmartin by the same path.
Filippa will present her work via PowerPoint slides along with some sculptural objects, small etchings of ‘portable’ cup marked rocks from the locale and artist’s books. These will be passed around during her talk as ‘archaeological’ artefacts.
Free event though donations welcome.
