Kilmartin Museum needs you!

Are you passionate about the archaeology and beautiful landscapes of Argyll? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you to become a part of something really special!

Kilmartin Museum is seeking volunteers to join our existing team, who are enthusiastic about the history of Argyll and who can help us bring the past to life and share it with others. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced staff and gain valuable knowledge about the prehistoric world.

As a charitable organisation, we are committed to involving people of all ages from our local community who would like to help us make Kilmartin Museum a special place for everyone to visit and learn about the very special area where we live.

Why do we need to recruit volunteers?

Kilmartin Museum is a charitable organisation supported by many other organisations, trusts, foundations and generous individuals who enable us to collect and care for our artefact collections. Having volunteers helps us to run our new Museum and our Education Service more effectively and efficiently. It can also be very rewarding, a good way to meet new people, to develop your skills and gain experience, as well as being good fun too. At the Museum we recognise the important contribution that all our volunteers make to our team.

How often would I need to volunteer?

This really depends on which area you are interested in volunteering for. In some cases, it will be once or twice a week, or more if you wish. Walking guides volunteer once or twice a month to lead guided walks. Alternatively you may wish to be on the bank and asked to help at different events, or you may be invited to a ‘work party’ to carry out a particular task.

In most cases, you may be asked to be part of a rota so that we know when you will be in. When you are on holiday or away, just let us know in advance if you can.

How do I become a volunteer?

To apply or find out more information, please complete the form below, letting us know a little bit about yourself and what area/s you are interested in volunteering for. We would then ask you to come in for a chat to discuss things or invite you to attend our next open day.
