“I was very pleased to become the first Patron of the Kilmartin Museum.  For many years, I have loved Kilmartin Glen and the wonderful museum that has been created there.  Museums only survive and thrive with the support of those who love them and visit them.  The Patrons’ Scheme is a key part of channelling this support, which I was delighted to provide.”

- Nicholas Ferguson, CBE

Become a Supporter of Kilmartin Museum

Did you know that it costs nearly £500,000 a year to run Kilmartin Museum?

£96,000 a year enables us to run our Education Service

£67,000 a year allows us to care for our collections

£12,000 a year covers maintenance of our exhibition.

However, only 11% of the Museum’s funding comes from core grants from Historic Environment Scotland, Argyll and Bute Council, NatureScot and Forestry Land Scotland. The remainder is funded through donations, project grants, retail income, ticket sales and renting out our spaces.

Our vital work is core to our charitable aims and gives us opportunities to engage inspire and educate thousands of people a year. By continuing this work, we aim to ensure that the landscape, wildlife, monuments and artefacts remain available for future generations to enjoy.

Our supporters are essential to the Museum’s future.
