Museum Stewards and Guides
Our museum showcases a wide range of exhibits, including ancient tools, weapons and artefacts from the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. We also have a range of interactive exhibits and displays that allow visitors to experience prehistoric life in Scotland. We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic about the rich prehistory of Argyll who can help us bring the past to life.
Although no experience is necessary, it is important that you have a genuine love of Argyll and its history and archaeology. You will soon learn about the prehistory and monuments of Kilmartin Glen and over time you will gather information about the range of amazing artefacts on display. The ability to talk to visitors and share your knowledge with others is essential. We will provide full training and support to help you develop your skills and confidence.
Initially your role would be as a Museum Steward, and as you become more confident, you may wish to extend your skills through further training to become a Museum Guide, which involves showing small groups around the museum. Some of our volunteers prefer to stay in the role of Museum Steward.
