Prehistoric Pottery Workshop

Thursday 25th June 2026
at Kilmartin Museum

One day event workshop
10:30 to 15:30

Kilmartin Glen boasts one of the finest assemblages of Bronze Age pottery in Scotland.

In this workshop you will learn how ancient identity was expressed in clay, how Bronze Age communities honoured their dead and how something as seemingly mundane as pottery was a significant part of prehistoric belief systems.

The session will start with a presentation and replica handling session, after which you will be guided through the process of tempering clay, building and decorating a Bronze Age Beaker or Food Vessel.

Instructions for drying and firing your pot will be provided.

The workshop will run from 10:30 til 15:30, with a break for lunch from around 12:15-13:00. It will be held in Kilmartin Museum’s dedicated Learning Centre.

All safety gear and craft materials will be provided. Over 18’s only.

Booking information: 8 spaces available

Cost per person is £65
