Introduction to Flintknapping Workshop

Would you like to learn how to knap flint?

Well, why not join our Flintknapping Workshop with Education Team Lead, Will Attard on Wednesday 8th October 2025, in the grounds of Kilmartin Museum from 13:00 to 15:00.

Alongside working as the Museum’s Education Team Lead, Will is an experienced field archaeologist, lithic specialist, and expert flint knapper. He has run workshops across the UK, contributed knapping skills to various archaeological experiments and produced replica tools for TV productions. Will uses his experience excavating and analysing ancient flint artefacts to replicate tools & materials using ancient techniques.

Participants will have the opportunity to produce their own prehistoric toolkit using a range of flint knapping techniques and tools.

There are only 10 places available on this workshop, so booking is essential. The cost per person is £45.

The workshop will take place in an open-sided marquee, so please come dressed for the Scottish weather. In extreme weather this event may be cancelled, so please make sure you leave contact details or call the museum on the day.

The minimum age for participants is 18 years.
