Neolithic Knife Workshop
Wednesday 25th March 2026
at Kilmartin Museum’s Learning Centre
One day event workshop
10:00 to 15:00
Join Kilmartin Museum to learn how to make your very own replica Neolithic knife.
Drawing on current and ongoing archaeological research and over a decade of ancient skills practice, Education Team Lead Will Attard will guide participants through the process of finishing a flint knife blade, carving a wooden handle and using natural glues and bindings to assemble the finished piece.
Please note – to avoid disappointment and broken blades, the flint knife blade will be roughed out prior to the workshops, and you will have the opportunity to finish it and complete final shaping on the day. The rest of the process will be created from scratch. If you want to start your flintknapping journey, please see our Introduction to Flintknapping courses.
The session will start with a presentation and replica handling session, after which you will have the opportunity to create your own Neolithic Knife using period-accurate tools and techniques.
All safety gear and craft materials will be provided.
Over 18’s only.
