Nature in Focus
A wonderful outdoor photography exhibition at Taynish Mill
Part of the Taynish National Nature Reserve’s Art Trail
Photos will be on display from 29th June - 2nd October
& also Number 18 in August’s Artmap Argyll
These striking photographs were taken by 5th and 6th year Art & Design and Graphic Design pupils from Lochgilphead High School and Tarbert Academy. They aimed to capture the natural beauty of our National Nature Reserves (NNRs).
The images were created whilst exploring the diverse habitats of Taynish NNR & Moine Mhor NNR
Through in-school workshops, pupils learned about the importance of our local NNRs and discovered the rich variety of flora and fauna they protect.
Pupils received on-site guidance & support from local photographers Caroline Anderson, Jon Simons and NatureScot’s Danny Bean whilst visiting the reserves, helping them to capture the landscapes and wildlife through their own creative lens.
Kilmartin Museum is an independent charity and one of the few museums in Scotland with a natural history remit. Together with NatureScot, the Museum has worked in partnership for many years to create inspiring opportunities for young people to connect with Argyll’s incredible natural heritage, and to express their experiences creatively.
The future is in our hands: where nature thrives, people flourish.
This project was developed by the Education Team at Kilmartin Museum, with funding and support from NatureScot, Reserve Manager Heather Goodwin and her rangers, as well as volunteers from both organisations.
Due to limited space we chose at least one photo from every pupil. We hope to display all three of each pupils’ photos in gallery form later on in the year for those unable to visit.
